Aqua One PremiumBall sintered glass media is suitable for all types of filtration systems. Sintered glass media is highly porous and provides greater surface area for nitrifying bacteria to colonise, allowing ammonia and nitrite to be processed more efficiently. Ammonia and Nitrite are harmful to aquatic organisms and increase the risk of disease outbreak.

For Biological Media:

Do Not Replace Monthly: Unlike the physical filter cartridges (which trap debris and need monthly changes), ceramic biological media should not be replaced or aggressively washed out with tap water. Doing so will destroy the beneficial bacteria colony and cause your tank to cycle again. 

Rinsing: If it gets clogged with debris over a long period, gently rinse the ceramic rings in a bucket of old tank water (never chlorinated tap water) during a routine water change.
