Aqua Natural Live Quartz Rings 500ml

This can of filter media is colonized by a patented blend of live nitrosomas and nitrobacter bacteria which break down and convert harmful ammonia into nitrates. Biological filtration uses beneficial bacteria that consume the toxic ammonia and nitrogen compounds that result from your fish or food waste.

Directions:

• Peel back the “full open” cap. The water may have an odour, which is normal.

• Drain the live filter media through a sieve.

• Place the wet filter media into a filter sock or directly into your filter or sump, depending on your setup.

Do not let it dry out before using. Your live filter colonies are ready to get to work immediately and will also spread to other filter media you may already have in your filter.

LIVE nitrosomas and nitrobacter bacteria are harmless to aquatic life.

The water can be used in your tank, however it may affect the pH.

For aquarium use only. Do not drink the water.

For Biological Media:

Do Not Replace Monthly: Unlike the physical filter cartridges (which trap debris and need monthly changes), ceramic biological media should not be replaced or aggressively washed out with tap water. Doing so will destroy the beneficial bacteria colony and cause your tank to cycle again. 

Rinsing: If it gets clogged with debris over a long period, gently rinse the ceramic rings in a bucket of old tank water (never chlorinated tap water) during a routine water change.
