Aqua One Biological Ceramic Balls assist in removing unwanted ammonia and nitrite from your aquarium. This is important in all aquariums as ammonia and nitrite can prove lethal to your livestock.

Suitable for: use in canister filters and sumps

For Biological Media:

Do Not Replace Monthly: Unlike the physical filter cartridges (which trap debris and need monthly changes), ceramic biological media should not be replaced or aggressively washed out with tap water. Doing so will destroy the beneficial bacteria colony and cause your tank to cycle again. 

Rinsing: If it gets clogged with debris over a long period, gently rinse the ceramic rings in a bucket of old tank water (never chlorinated tap water) during a routine water change.
